Equipments and
machines were distributed to develop income generation ways of the women headed
families at the office of Grama Sevaka( Village officer)
in Kopaweli,
Betticaloa on 14th of August 2014.
The program of the
day was headed by Mr. Arul Sebasthiyan, the president of the “Gandi” citizen
forum related to District Fisheries Solidarity in Batticaloa and Miss.
Vadivelamma, the president of the district committee of women headed families.
The program officers
from the secretariat of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement as well as
activators of District Fisheries Solidarity in Batticaloa were warmly welcomed
by the members to the program.
The beneficiaries of
women headed families from the villages of Kithul, Urukamam, Kopaveli,
Velikakandi and Thumpalachcholei and
district committee members of women headed families as well as members of
“Gandi” citizen forum have participated
to the program.
K. Selva Kumar and K.
Subramaniyam, coordinator and animator of district fisheries solidarity in
Betticaloa as well as Lavina Hasanthi, Priyanka Costa, Anthony Jesudasan and
Laksiri representing the secretariat of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement
participated to the program.
Expressing Miss.
Lavina Hasanthi who is the women coordinator of National Fisheries Solidarity
Movement she mentioned that “we are very happy today. All we worked hard to get
those achievements. National Fisheries Solidarity Movement is not an
organization to distribute finance assistances for the people. That is an
organization work to ensure the rights of people. You know we are implementing
a lot of programs to ensure the basic rights of the people in the North and
East on this existing situation. In the meanwhile, we attempted to develop the
economic condition of the women headed families who were influenced by the war
assisting. We are happy because we were able to assist for women headed
families as small scale today. We should appear to ensure the rights not only
the members who obtained some assistance but also others.”
Intervening Mr.
Priyankara Costa, We provide those assistances for you in the midst of many
difficulties. That way, you should think to develop bath economic condition as
well as you should take actions to ensure the people’s rights, he said.
We are very happy. We
should strengthen our work demonstrating to other districts with this pleasure,
said K. Selva Kumara, district coordinator.
Some equipments were
provided to the selected women headed families who came from five villages to
develop exist income generation ways of them. 2 machines of stream hoppers ,
11 packages of agricultural tools an 7
swing machines were distributed in the program.
